T-Mobile USA confirm Android 1.6 OTA roll-out

T-Mobile confirmed that the rollout of Android 1.6 — aka, Donut — to T-Mobile’s G1 and myTouch 3G customers is now underway. The Bellevue, Wash.-based carrier said Android 1.6, dubbed “Donut,” is being delivered as an OTA (Over The Air) update.

Android 1.6 brings several new features to the Android platform, including a new version of the Android Market and a re-worked the search function, including the ability to search phone systems such as the browser bookmarks and history, contacts, and the Web from the desktop.
Here’s what you’ll get, with this Donut:

*An improved Android Market
*Quick Search Box, which lets you search across various apps, such as browser bookmarks and history, contacts, and the Web, right from the home screen
*Updated voice search
*Integrated camera, camcorder, and gallery
*Battery usage indicator
